Joel and Benji Madden’s Veeps to Launch ‘Improbably Poppy’ Variety Show

Veeps, the live-streaming platform co-founded by Joel and Benji Madden, will soon be the home of “Improbably Poppy,” a new video series from singer-songwriter and performance artist Poppy.

The project is described in a press release as “a complex knot of comedy, subversive commentary, and music, unabashedly introduced by Poppy as ‘a show where we’ll learn, listen, live, laugh, love and probably, a few of us will die.’ It promises to bend your mind in ways that only Poppy can.” The announcement continues: “An air of transcendence only further stirs the swirl of ambiguity — is Poppy real? Is she a NPC? Do the puppets really die? Those that tune in will be the first to know. Or will they?”

“Improbably Poppy” launches Oct. 11 on Veeps with six episodes, each titled for the topics explored: “Taking Risks,” “Education,” “Free Will,” “Hygiene,” “Growing Up” and “Nature.”

Poppy wrote, directed and stars in “Improbably Poppy,” with Garrett Nicholson as co-director. Executive producers are Poppy, Benji Madden and Joel Madden. The series was produced by Veeps Studio — the second release from the division of Veeps focused on film & TV projects — in partnership with Yes Chef Pictures.

“Improbably Poppy” is the latest offering from the performance artist, who first rose to prominence on YouTube a decade ago with the blasé catchphrase, “I’m Poppy.” The new show comes amid a big year for Poppy, who kicked off 2024 by joining Bad Omens on the “Concrete Forever Tour” across Europe, followed by her headlining “Zig” tour, as well as support shows for Avenged Sevenfold and Thirty Seconds To Mars. On Nov. 15, Poppy will release her forthcoming album, “Negative Spaces.”

Veeps began teasing the announcement last week with a series of Instagram reels offering a glimpse into Poppy’s surreal take on a variety show, which includes comedic segments, musical performances, guest interviews that “border on brutal” and “sass-filled commentary” by a cast of puppets.
