Man charged with killing his father in Silver Spring

Fabian Newsome is accused of killing his father, 88-year-old David Newsome.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — A man is facing charges after police say he killed his father in Silver Spring earlier this month.

According to the Montgomery County Department of Police, 48-year-old, Fabian Newsome is accused of killing his father, 88-year-old David Newsome.

Officers were called to a home in the 12000 block of Sandalwood Lane just before 7 p.m. on Oct. 21. When police arrived, they found David Newsome dead with "apparent trauma to his body." Police have not said what exactly that trauma was. His body has since been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will determine how he died. 

Investigators later identified Fabian Newsome as a suspect in his father's death. He was arrested a day later by the US Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. 

Fabian Newsome was taken to the Central Processing Unit, where he has been charged with first-degree murder and is currently being held without bond.
