LINCOLNIA, Va. — A man was taken into custody for beating his 75-year-old mother to death in Fairfax County Thursday morning. According to police, the man has been charged with second-degree murder and is being held on no bond.
Fairfax County Police officers were called to the home in the 6300 block of Lincolnia Road around 9:40 a.m. When police got to the scene, they found Myong Kim, who police said was "suffering from trauma to the upper body." She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives determined that John Kim, 39, had fatally assaulted his mother and remained on scene until officers arrived. John Kim was taken into custody and transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
Detectives continue to conduct interviews, collect video surveillance and process evidence recovered from the scene to determine what led up to the deadly beating.
