WASHINGTON — A 34-year-old D.C. man will spend decades in prison for the brutal rape and robbery of a complete stranger

Mark A. Blue and the victim were total strangers when he abducted and repeatedly raped her on Dec. 3, 2018. Nearly seven years later, he was sentenced to 40 years in prison for kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, kidnapping while armed, robbery while armed, and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse while armed.

According to the Department of Justice, Blue and a co-conspirator targeted the victim as she was walking home from a Prince George's County bus stop. Blue forced the woman into a car, threatened to kill her and then covered her eyes with her shirt so she would not be able to see.

Blue then sexually assaulted the woman before driving to Southeast D.C., where he forced her to give him her ATM information. The co-conspirator then drained the woman's bank account of every cent as Blue assaulted her again.

Blue then drove the victim to an alley, where both he and his co-conspirator sexually assaulted the woman before leaving her naked in an alley, with her shirt covering her head.

Part of the night was caught by surveillance cameras and ATM cameras.

At the time, Blue was on supervised release for a 2013 armed robbery conviction. After the attack, the co-conspirator, Nick Savor, turned himself in to police. Blue, however, quit his job and fled to North Carolina. He was found after someone saw Blue's mugshot on the news and called police.

Blue was arrested on Jan. 29, 2019. In addition to his prison term, he will be required to pay the victim restitution of $999. Upon release, he will serve a lifetime of supervised release.
