Lockdowns in both Crossland High School and Thurgood Marshall Middle School in Temple Hills have been lifted.
TEMPLE HILLS, Md. — Lockdowns at two schools in Prince George’s County have been lifted two and half hours after a man was shot nearby during an attempted carjacking.
Around 9:38 a.m. Tuesday, Prince George’s County responded to an AutoZone Auto Parts at 7057 Allentown Road. They initially believed the shooting was an attempted robbery at the AutoZone, but police said they found that it was an attempted carjacking in the parking lot.
While the man fought off the three people, he was shot one time, police say. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment in critical but stable condition.
Two of the suspects have been caught by police and are in custody. One is still at large, but police say they have a lead on finding him.
Crossland High School and Thurgood Marshall Middle School in Temple Hills were on lockdown until around 12:30 p.m. while police investigated the shooting in the area. Police say the shooting is not related to either of the schools.
Crossland High School is across Temple Hill Road from the shopping center. Thurgood Marshall Middle School is a five minute drive away.
Most of the stores in the shopping center, including the AutoZone, are currently closed.
