WASHINGTON — Heads up Metro riders, starting Sunday some bus routes will change.

Metro will implement adjustments to six bus routes in D.C. and Maryland to enhance service efficiency and address ongoing construction impacts. The affected routes include the F6, F8, G14, R2, R12, and T14.

Service Changes Overview:

  1. F6 (New Carrollton-Fort Totten): On weekdays, the eastbound trip departing Hyattsville Crossing at 4:12 p.m. will now leave at 3:10 p.m. This change aims to align with Northwest High School’s dismissal time, reducing crowding during peak hours.

  2. F8 (Langley Park-Cheverly): The route will reflect a long-term detour due to Purple Line construction in Langley Park. Buses will be rerouted via New Hampshire Avenue to accommodate the ongoing construction.

  3. G14 (Greenbelt-Good Luck Road): Several schedule updates have been made. A new trip will depart New Carrollton at 2:50 p.m. on weekdays when school is in session to alleviate crowding. Additionally, eastbound buses from Greenbelt to New Carrollton will depart five minutes earlier on weekends, improving overall on-time performance.

  4. R2 (Riggs Road): On weekdays, the southbound trip from High Point High School will be adjusted from 2:48 p.m. to 2:33 p.m. to better match school dismissal times and reduce overcrowding.

  5. R12 (Kenilworth Avenue): On Saturdays, northbound buses from Deanwood will depart 10 minutes earlier, while southbound buses to Deanwood will depart Greenbelt two to five minutes later, depending on the time.

  6. T14 (Rhode Island Avenue-New Carrollton): On Saturdays and Sundays, buses will depart both New Carrollton and Rhode Island Avenue stations 12 minutes earlier, at 30 minutes past the hour, to enhance punctuality.

Metro has updated its real-time bus information and trip planning tools to reflect these changes. For up-to-date schedule information, customers can visit the timetables or use Metro’s Trip Planner. The Metro customer service team is available to assist with trip planning and provide real-time information. Representatives are reachable on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. by calling 202-637-7000.

These adjustments are designed to improve on-time performance, accommodate school schedules, and adapt to the long-term detour in Langley Park.
