Devin Jones, 34, faces several charges including attempted first-degree rape.

SILVER SPRING, Md. — A Silver Spring man is facing several charges after he was arrested for a pair of home invasions and assaults in Montgomery County. Now, detectives are working to learn if he may have attacked other people.

According to investigators, on Saturday at around 8:30 a.m. in the morning, officers were called to the 3700 block of Greencastle Road. When officers arrived, they spoke to an 88-year-old woman. The woman told police that someone forced his way into her home and physically assaulted her. She said the man tried to sexually assault her before stealing a personal item and leaving.

Two days later, detectives with the police department's Special Victim's Investigations Division (SVID) were called to the 1500 block of November Circle at just after 2 a.m. In this case, a 77-year-old woman reported that a man entered her bedroom and exposed himself. The woman fought back and tried to call police, but the man took her phone and left.

Detectives were able to use forensic evidence from both crime scenes to identify the wanted man as 34-year-old Devin Jones from Silver Spring. He was arrested Wednesday. When he was arrested, detectives found items belonging to both women.

Jones faces several charges including home invasion, attempted first-degree rape, indecent exposure, assault and theft.

Detectives are investigating additional burglaries that may be linked to Jones. Anyone who has information about any related incidents is urged to contact SVID at 240-773-5050. Tips can also be submitted anonymously via Montgomery County Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS.
