The execution of a search warrant has led to an ongoing hazmat investigation in Virginia.

HERNDON, Va. — About 20 homes have been evacuated in Herndon after police say they discovered chemical substances and other evidence of concern inside the home of a man who was arrested Friday morning.

The Herndon Police Department, ATF Washington and the Fairfax County Police Department currently have a heavy presence in the 200 block of Herndon Station Square.

Police say they are recovering evidence from the home of 44-year-old Timothy Kyle.

Kyle is reportedly wanted in Pennsylvania on charges of criminal mischief, stalking, and three counts of harassment. He was taken into custody without incident at about 11:30 a.m., after which detectives executed a search warrant on his home.

The neighboring houses were evacuated out of precaution, police say, and the W&OD Trail has been closed between Grace and Center as well. The Harbor House Senior Center was also evacuated for safety reasons.

This is a developing story and will be updated when new information becomes available.
