A 16- and 17-year-old each face more than 30 counts for the crimes.
PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, Md. — Two teenage boys have been arrested and charged with dozens of counts related to armed carjackings in Prince George’s County.
A 16-year-old from Upper Marlboro and a 17-year-old from Lanham are accused of being involved in nine cases, including seven armed carjackings, one attempted armed carjacking and one stolen vehicle. All of the cases happened between June 4 and July 9 in Bowie and Upper Marlboro.
The 16-year-old faces 43 counts of armed carjacking and related offenses, while the 17-year-old faces 31 counts of armed carjacking and related offenses.
All of the stolen cars have been recovered.
Police say the department’s Carjacking Interdiction Unit conducted an extensive investigation into the string of armed carjackings which led them to the teens.
