The trailer was promised to drop during the 95th Annual Academy Awards, and you better believe it made a ~splash~ when it finally did!
In fact, they didn't merely premiere it: Ariel (Halle Bailey) and Ursula (Melissa McCarthy) actually took to the stage to properly present the trailer the the room of A-listers, and everyone watching at home.
In the trailer, we get a good look at all of the major set pieces and characters, starting with Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) and his ship — which is already aflame.
Ariel saves him, before we're shot into the world of Atlantis with out first look at Javier Bardem as the trident-wielding King Triton.
And we finally get to see Ursula in all of her eight-legged glory, with a tease into her iconic song, "Poor Unfortunate Souls."
Overall the trailer is stunning from beginning to end, and designed to hit you right in the nostalgia! From the sights to the sounds, it's guaranteed to put you squarely in your feelings.
So be sure to catch The Little Mermaid when it hits theaters May 26!
