MARYLAND, USA — Local survivor fans — get ready for season 47.
Airing in just over 2 weeks, this new season features two contestants from Maryland hoping to win the show's $1 million prize.
Terran “TK” Foster, 31, is from Prince George’s County and currently lives in Upper Marlboro.
In his intro video, Foster reveals that he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease at 14. By the time he was diagnosed, he had 50% kidney failure and says he was told by multiple doctors that he would not survive.
Foster beat the odds but had to give up his dreams of playing football. Instead, he went into athlete marketing and works as a liaison between athletes and their partners.
He said he thinks dealing with a variety of people with different backgrounds throughout his career has prepared him well for Survivor.
Gabe Otis, 26, is from and currently lives in Baltimore.
Ortis is not here to make friends — even if it’s a cliche.
Growing up with two older brothers, Ortis said he learned ways to bend the rules.
“You can cut corners, lie, cheat and steal to get ahead and get little advantages that stack up throughout life,” Ortis said in his intro video.
As a radio talk show host, Ortis said he’s learned when it’s time to “take up all the air in the room” or when to sit back and listen.
Even though he says it's all about working people, Ortis said his fellow Survivor contestants mean nothing to him. Otis said he’s there, not to care about the people around him, but to build a legacy and win.
