Police confirmed the 17-year-old male was taken to the Juvenile Processing Center after being extradited from Jacksonville, Florida.
WASHINGTON — The Metropolitan Police Department announced the second suspect involved in a double shooting in March 2023 in Southeastern DC, leaving two dead and one injured, has been formally charged.
The Background
Seventh District officers responded to a shooting report on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at around 7:44 p.m. at the 2700 block of Bruce Place, SE. On the scene, police indicated they found two men with gunshot wounds. Subsequently, police declared 23-year-old Dana Faulkner, of Southeast, died at the scene. The second victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Thereafter, police also responded to a report of an unconscious person at the intersection of Wheeler Road and Mississippi Avenue, Southeast. On the spot, officers located 15-year-old Abdul Fuller, of Southeast, DC, with critical gunshot wound injuries. Fuller was transported to a nearby hospital, where, hours later, on March 9, 2023, he was pronounced dead. Police determined Fuller was "injured in the Bruce Place shooting."
Following the above, police opened an investigation and requested a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. In due course, Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a 19-year-old man, of Northeast, DC. He has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated).
The second suspect, a 17-year-old male, of Northeast, DC, was arrested on Friday, June 21, 2024, said police. The suspect was taken to MPD’s Juvenile Processing Center upon completion of the extradition process from Jacksonville, Florida. He was charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed in the shooting death of Dana Faulkner.
